National Kitchen and Bath Month is held in October. The Aloha Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) is proud to showcase our two major events in this special supplement of Hawaii Home + Remodeling.

We are celebrating the 15th year of our Design Competition, with this year’s winners and entrants displayed on the following pages. The winners were recognized and announced at our banquet held at the Cupola Events Theatre in the Honolulu Design Center on Oct. 3, 2008. We invite you to savor the designs and ideas for your future remodeling plans.

In our continuing celebration of NKBA month, you are invited to attend The Great Kitchen & Bath Tour, which continues to showcase wonderful designs and materials by many of our finest designers in Honolulu. The event is being held on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008. Tickets for the event are available at many kitchen and bath design companies in town, as well as at all tour homes on the day of the tour. See the tour maps in this guide for locations.

Visitors on the tour can walk through some of the finest kitchens and baths designed by our Aloha Chapter members. This is a wonderful venue for those of you who are considering a remodel or are just starting your construction. You will have an opportunity to visit with the designers who worked on the project and ask questions of many of the suppliers and vendors who provided the materials.

Attending the tour can provide you with many new ideas and useful information on appliances, flooring, cabinets, counters and more. In addition, you will be helping benefit a wonderful community service organization. All ticket proceeds from the tour go to Honolulu Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income families build affordable homes. For the past 10 years, the Aloha Chapter of the NKBA has been working with Honolulu Habitat for Humanity on the Kitchen & Bath Tour and donating time and labor on houses under construction. We are happy to continue our growing relationship with this charity and support the work it does.

The NKBA works to provide the public with professional designers and the best materials to suit the growing new construction and remodeling industries. Our members possess extensive experience and training, and we encourage you to contact one of them or visit their showrooms before you begin your next project.

About the NKBA

The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) is a nonprofit trade association that has led the kitchen and bath industry for more than 35 years. Its mission is to enhance member success and excellence by promoting professionalism and ethical business practices and to provide leadership and direction for the kitchen and bathroom industry. The NKBA benefits consumers by acting as a one-stop resource for everything, from finding a qualified design professional in your area to providing the latest on industry trends, products and services.

With more than 8,000 members and 50 chapters throughout the United States and Canada, the association continually raises the bar for kitchen and bath professionals, certifying only individuals who pass rigorous written exams and prove themselves through years of experience.

An NKBA member can coordinate every aspect of your project’s design and installation. Each member is experienced in working with contractors, electricians, plumbers and other experts. More importantly, they’re uniquely qualified to listen to your needs and transform them into the kind of room you want.

When you deal with an NKBA member, you’ll benefit from specialized expertise, years of experience, a commitment to quality and an exceptionally high degree of professionalism.
