Homeowner’s Request:

The homeowner wanted her new kitchen to be open, functional and welcoming. Because it was located in the center of the home, she wanted the new design to be clean and simple, with neutral colors to harmonize with the décor of the surrounding spaces. The homeowner is also a professional, with minimal time to clean and maintain her space, so they called on Pak to design with materials and surfaces with easy upkeep built in.

Designer’s Challenge:

Keep the space simple, functional and neutral without making it bland and uninviting.

Designer’s Solution:

Pak integrated custom panels every where possible, including the Thermador refrigerator. A landing space between the refrigerator and freezer was also added. This way, the homeowners can set food and grocery items down before preparing them or putting them away. Pak then incorporated a cooking center with lots of counter space and two mixer shelves. A microwave oven was placed near the cooktop as well. An island with a built-in sink was added, and it included an integrated-drawer dishwasher and even more counter space. Finally, a desk was added close by to integrate the kitchen with other parts of the home.

With the addition of these elements, a neutral color palette was used to maintain the homeowner’s desired look. “I saw in the end result, we achieved what the homeowner wanted: simple, functional, easy maintenance,” explains the designer. “Just her personal touches were all that was left.”
