Jenn
Johnson, Aubrey Morgan-Yee and Jamie Jackson, owners of Pacific Home,
are perfectly comfortable amid the jingling phones, chiming doorbell
and constant foot traffic at their new Ward Avenue showroom. It's one
more day in a whole string of days that has brought them success
amongst Hawaii's design-conscious residents.
When
Johnson, an architect by trade, and Indonesian furniture importer
Morgan-Yee first met, they recognized their combined potential. The two
women began the slow process of creating a company from scratch.
Pacific Home was born in August 2004, when they opened their doors to
Young Street.
Fate
knocked twice at Pacific Home's door. Jamie Jackson, an
actress-turned-interior-designer, recently joined the team and
transformed the talents of two into the power of three. Jackson offers
interior design services through Pacific Home Studio, to provide
homeowners with customized living spaces.
"The partnership is awesome," says Morgan-Yee. "We all get along really well."

The
talents are diverse enough that we each fall into our roles very
naturally. It creates a nurturing environment, owed to the fact that
we're all women."
The
previous showroom, a mere 1,500 square feet, provided only a glimpse of
Pacific Home's modern-tropical inventory, the remainder of which hid in
the dark recesses of the company's warehouse.
Since
relocating to 6,600 square feet on Ward Avenue, Johnson, Morgan-Yee and
Jackson have established a designer's dream showroom. The new
showroom's blank canvas allowed the women to express a design
philosophy that encourages creative thought and a team-oriented
atmosphere.
Pacific
Home offers a wide selection of furnishings. Recycled plastic furniture
by Janus et Cie, made with HULARO¨ fibre, is interspersed with custom
upholstered armchairs from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. A new line of
rugs by Emma Gardner blends urban threads and tropical fibers.
"Primarily,
we try to use solid woods rather than veneers," explains Morgan-Yee.
"Organic materials for a beachy look with a modern twist."
The
results are evident throughout the showroom. Boasting an eclectic mix
of pastel pillows and bespeckled bedspreads, beach-worn lounge chairs
and streamlined coffee tables, retro rugs and feel-good fabrics,
Pacific Home seamlessly combines an endemic Hawaii look with an eye for
the modern-minded.
