This Sushi Set by Gloster was an award-winner at the September 2004 International Casual Furniture Show in Chicago. Gloster won not only a Design Excellence award for the set, but also the Best of Show award. The company has been in business more than 40 years, distributing primarily in Europe. In the last decade, it has become well respected internationally for its designs and the high-quality of outdoor furnishing materials.
The
table and stool frames are made of powder-coated aluminum, wrapped in
Hularo® resinweave, or synthetic wicker. The tempered glass table top
is 47-inch-square and the height is 22 inches. The 17-inch-high stools
have castors, allowing easy slides in and away from the table. The
stool cushions are available in a wide range of Sunbrella fabrics. Lanai Things, Sushi five-piece set, $2,340.
Pacific
Home has not only opened a new, expanded showroom on Ward Avenue, it
has also started to carry Janus et Cie contemporary outdoor furniture.
Janus et Cie’s Dedon 2006-2007 collection includes the pictured
Hemisphere chairs and the poolside Orbit. Dedon furniture is
exceedingly long lasting, as the sturdy frames are made of
powder-coated aluminum and the wickerwork consists of original HULARO®
fibre—a synthetic material. HULARO® is extremely tear-proof, colorfast,
weatherproof, UV resistant and environmentally friendly. It is also
tremendously versatile in color and shape, which offers a large degree
of creative latitude. Pacific
Home, Hemisphere Chairs, $2,957 with cushion, and Orbit, $6,089, basic
- $10,318, with canopy, orbit base, seat cushion and throw pillows.
This
outdoor table set (with four chairs, lounger, beverage cart and table)
brings an outdoor café to your lanai. The beverage cart can be stocked
with four wine bottles and two tiers of food and supplies, then easily
wheeled outdoors for entertaining. Hale Mana Interiors, Table Set, $2,200.
At least once a month, SoHa brings in new merchandise to stay fresh, especially for the weekly Ward Centre customers who stop by to see what’s new. Recent welcome additions include summer outdoor chairs and tables. SoHa, Oberoi Coffee Table, $150, plus stackable chair, $85.
Wicker, which is woven willow, reed and rattan, is commonly used in summer and outdoor furniture. Wickerworks at Windward Mall has several new pieces, including single items, such as the pictured chaise lounge in honey-colored wicker, with a wood bead trim. It’s also available in whitewash.
The shop also offers pre-matched sets, such as the four-piece Honolulu Iron set. It includes one loveseat (as shown), two chairs and a cocktail table. It is made of wicker and heavy wrought iron. Matching end tables and a three-panel screen are also available. Pieces can be sold separately. Wickerworks, Lounge chair, $269.95, and Honolulu Iron loveseat, $265.

The
Genie chair and the Carmel (ying yang) coffee table (right page) are
just two of the fun, functional accent pieces in the Island Breeze
Collection by Environ. The entire collection is environmentally
friendly furniture, handmade from water hyacinth. The stems are sun
dried, colored and then hand woven. The furniture is available in
various weaves and finishes, but Environ most often uses the rope weave
for its durability, nice feel and stylish look. All products are
covered with a protective coating to keep them moisture resistant. The
frames are made of plantation-grown hardwoods, which add durability,
and the seats have elasticized fabric spring decks for extra comfort. The Perfect Furniture Company, Genie chair, $1,599 and Ying Yang coffee table, $495.
SoHa
stands for South of Hawaii, and appropriately so, as the shop’s solid
wood furniture, home accents, linens and flatware are amassed from
buying trips to Java, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam.
