“Since we opened in 2000, our showroom has never been finished,” laughs American Cabinetry’s vice president, Steve Pak, of his Mapunapuna showroom. Whole new kitchen displays, the latest countertop materials and fresh appliances continuously update the space.

“It’s like when a homeowner starts with a kitchen remodel, then they move on to other parts of the home,” he says. “You make one improvement, and it inspires you to make more.”

An art deco kitchen display is Pak’s latest inspiration. Violet and blue cabinetry, with white maple shelves and etched glass doors, demand attention. “We are trying to have some fun with that one,” he says.

Creating and manufacturing its own cabinetry line, Design Studio NV, certainly makes constant modifications easier. Plus, the cabinetry is customizable. Designers aren’t limited to premade shapes, sizes or colors (they can go way beyond purple). Other benefits of local manufacturing include easy, last-minute adjustments, quick repairs and never having to worry about damage during transport, Pak says.

The company also represents Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. and Huggy Bear’s Cupboards, which can be mixed and matched within a kitchen. For example, the art deco kitchen features the Design Studio line, peppered with a few Canyon Creek cabinets. The showroom’s four other displays showcase the company’s cabinetry possibilities, from traditional to contemporary. Pak says two more displays are in the works.

To round out the kitchen showroom extravaganza, the company represents 25 appliance manufacturers. The big boys, such as Viking, Sub-Zero and Thermador, play nice with Maytag and KitchenAid, ensuring the perfect fridge for every kitchen budget. And, an almost endless selection of countertop samples covers an entire wall.

American Cabinetry’s four designers also have a high-tech tool to help them with the design process. The CAD, or computer-aided design system, creates a 3-D model. No more one-dimensional blueprints. Designers try out cabinet and countertop materials, lighting and color schemes. Modifications can be made with the click of a mouse.

Fortunately for homeowners, American Cabinetry designs more than just its own showroom. “A showroom is an ongoing project, but that’s just part of the business,” Pak says. The company’s innovative design team is on hand to create your kitchen, bath, organizational unit or entertainment center. The company passes on to homeowners the benefits of its custom cabinetry. And, homeowners can make their own changes to the CAD’s 3-D models.

Constantly inspired by ever-changing displays, American Cabinetry guarantees no two kitchens will be alike. Unless you absolutely have to have violet and blue cabinets.
