October is Kitchen & Bath month! To have some fun, we asked locally recognized chefs to vouch for their Top 5 cooking gadgets for cuisine cooking at home. To get their advice on how to equip your own kitchen, go to Fresh Ideas.

Also in this month’s issue is the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) Aloha Chapter Membership Guide. The guide presents the 2006 Hawaii Kitchen & Bath Design Competition Awards. Take a peek at this year’s winners.

The NKBA Guide also includes a valuable map of the self-guided Great Kitchen & Bath Tour. On Sunday, Oct. 22, you’re invited to visit 10 Oahu residences to see what’s new in kitchen and bath design, plus meet the designers who created these innovative spaces.

Tour tickets are $10 per person and tax deductible, as proceeds benefit the Honolulu Habitat for Humanity. It’s easy. Purchase tickets on tour day at any of the homes and start the tour anywhere you wish. See page 12 of the NKBA Guide for more information.

See you on the tour!

Correction: In September’s “Built to Last” article, we wrote that Craig Watase, of Mark Development Inc., is married to Nola Watase, when in fact she is his sister-in-law. We regret the error.
