The scent that permeates the workshop is a mixture of sawdust and wood stains. Several unfinished projects, such as shelves, cabinets and wine racks are scattered around. Saws buzz and hammers pound. It’s amazing to see, up close, all the work that goes into creating Hawaii Woodcrafts’ handmade wares. What’s even better is seeing the finished products in the newly renovated showroom.
President Greg Molica has a long history of cabinetry craftsmanship. He started working in a small cabinet shop and then advanced to journeyman carpenter and cabinetmaker. In 1991, he and wife Renee, the company’s vice president, became proud owners of Hawaii Woodcrafts’ workshop and showroom.

Located on Koapaka Street near the Honolulu Airport, Hawaii Woodcrafts specializes in interior renovations and cabinetry for the kitchen and bath. In addition to home remodeling, Molica and his team also work on large commercial projects in hotels and retirement residences.
Maple, cherry and African mahogany seem to be the most popular wood choices among Molica’s clients, but he can get his hands on just about any type of wood a customer desires, and he offers more than 100 different stain colors. The lumber he uses is shipped to Oahu from the Mainland, but every finished piece is produced in Honolulu. “We build everything right here. It’s all made in Hawaii,” Molica says.
In an effort to be more environmentally aware, Molica now offers his clients a green alternative: certified, non-formaldehyde lumber. As soon as this environmentally friendly product became available in Hawaii, Molica took the necessary steps to make it accessible to his customers. He knows that many people are concerned about the formaldehyde in building products, which can have adverse health effects when allowed to permeate the air we breathe. Being able to provide consumers with a solution is a large part of the work he does.
Hawaii Woodcrafts is also using more natural products in addition to its acrylic countertop selection. Though acrylic will still be available for those who request it, Molica believes the demand for natural materials will likely grow. Hawaii Woodcrafts also carries various ENERGY STAR appliances by Monogram, GE, Thermador, Bosch, Gaggenau and more.
For a green renovation, design, build or installation, Hawaii Woodcrafts is the place to go. They can do it all. “We can do furniture, kitchens, bars, anything,” says Molica.
