In Hawaii, we have a long tradition of integrating an indoor and
outdoor room. In fact, the covered lanai is the most used room in the
house. "The latest trend in outdoor furniture is the indoor look," says
Dian Cleve, of the architectural and interior design firm Cleve and
Levin. The comforts of interior spaces an be enjoyed outdoors
year-round here, and the table is no exception. Just as any interior
space can transform your home, so, too, can your outdoor table. Return to Old Hawaii
Re-connect with times past by incorporating natural elements
reflective of Island culture. Bamboo, leafy greens and lush tropical
colors abound. Mix natural colors, such as green and beige, and fiber
textures to connect with the environment and bring nature to the table.

Escape to Asia
Allow
the simplicity of dark woods and natural elements that blend with the
outside environment to take you and your guests to Asia. Incorporate

the calming sound of trickling water by integrating a water feature.

Plunge Under the Sea Delve
into the deep without holding your breath. Aqua colors and shell
accents paired with bubbly glass and shiny silver transform your
backyard table to an oceanic setting. Use accents and ornaments you
would find in the sea: shells, urchins, rope, glass, anything! Remember
to keep dual functionality in mind. A placecard holder can double as a
photo clip, and shell ornaments can double as candy dishes. Get
creative.

Cook Up a Good Time A great grill and an outdoor party go hand-in-hand. Lucky for us, two great grill trends have hit Hawaii.
TEC’s patented grilling system, available at Gemini Pool & Spa, is the only grilling system that cooks with 100 percent infrared energy. This keeps food moist while providing a uniform distribution of heat across the grilling surface.
For the ultimate in charcoal cooking, look to the Charcoal Ceramic Cooking Capsule from Viking. Its ceramic interior speeds cooking times by maximizing heat retention, while its Elliptical airflow technology circulates heat to lock in natural flavors. After the party is over, remove the virtually non-stick surface porcelain grate for easy cleanup.
