We’ve talked to many great interior designers, builders, architects, landscape designers and contractors this month who love what they do. After all, they get to improve some of the most important places on Earth—our homes. Though each one’s job might be a little different, in the end they all describe gratification in the same way—it’s something they feel when they know they’ve created surroundings their clients love and will live in for years to come. Meet some of the best in the business on page 32.

At Hawaii Home + Remodeling, we love our jobs, too. After all, we get to photograph some pretty gorgeous locations (catch this month’s Outdoor Living photographer Ryan Siphers vying for the perfect shot, left). The story starts on page 50.
When we’re not on location, there’s fun to be had in the office, whether styling in the studio (see Associate Editor/Web Editor Joanne Romero and me setting up a studio shot, upper-right) or brainstorming new story or headline ideas.
As for the Web, Joanne starts her blog this month at
www.hawaiihomeandremodeling.com, a monthly column devoted to trends, thoughts and advice related to the home.
Finally, our September offering finds us exploring the topic of home-improvement financing—a subject that, in this economic climate, couldn’t be more pertinent than it is right now. We’ve packed this issue full of useful information and great ideas we hope will inspire you to improve your home project. We hope you will enjoy reading this issue as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you.
Aloha,
Sabra

As our Associate Editor, Jenny de Jesus, points out in this month’s finance feature (p.40), now is a great time to think about renovating your home. It’s also no secret that the largest resale value generators are kitchen remodeling. Looking for a great deal on a kitchen upgrade? Check out the Kitchen Concepts Plus showroom at the Gentry Pacific Design Center where several showroom displays are on sale at up to 50 percent off now through the end of October. Looking for a kitchen and bath contractor? The National Kitchen and Bath Association’s Web site (
www.nkba.org) is a great place to start. You’ll be able to search for reputable kitchen and bath designers and contractors right here in Hawaii.
