This new showroom includes three fully operational kitchens; the company plans to offer cooking classes and demonstrations to show the features of their top-of-the-line products.

You’ve seen their exquisite projects in the pages of our magazine. They have a stellar reputation on Oahu, and their presence is widely known and respected thanks to years of design experience from owners Rick Cowan, CKD, and Tiare Noelani Cowan, CKD, Allied ASID. Now, Archipelago Hawaii, Refined Island Designs has branched out to the west side of Maui.

One of four cabinet lines carried by Archipelago, Irpinia designs run the gamut from traditional to contemporary.

At the suggestion that they needed a presence on Maui, the brother-and-sister design team did some research and found a space in Lahaina that was virtually move-in-ready. “The opportunity presented itself and we went for it. That’s the way we do it,” Tiare says.

Just a few months later, they opened the Lahaina Design Center, in partnership with three well-known businesses: At Home Theater, Davis Tile & Marble and Pacific Home. With each an expert in its particular field, the businesses serve what was previously an underserved section of Maui. “A lot of the kitchen-design firms have closed down,” says Tiare. “We’re also dealers for Sub-Zero/Wolf, which is also not served on that side of the Island.”
What do you get from this new showroom? “A complete home experience,” Rick says. They’ve got a fully functional home theater, tile and stone samples, three kitchen vignettes and furniture displays.

“We can do complete home renovation or ground-up building,” Tiare says. “We encompass the entire home ... We can assist with appliances, cabinetry, design, furnishings, you name it.”   ­
