This washer uses 74 percent less water and 79 percent less energy and can wash up to 16 pairs of jeans in a single load, according to Whirlpool. It also keeps clothes fresh with TumbleFresh technology, which employs intermittent tumbling after a cycle is complete to reduce bacteria and to keep wrinkles from setting in.

ENERGY PAYBACKS

Now, Hawaii Energy offers electric utility rate payers of Oahu, Maui and Hawaii counties cash rebates for energy-efficient appliances with the Energy Solutions for the Home program. Just make sure to apply for the rebate within six months of purchase and include the original sales receipt. The rebates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the availability of funds.

Bonus: There is a $50 incentive for customers who hire a Hawaii Energy-registered C52 contractor to service their A/C to make it more efficient. Find out more at hawaiienergy.com.
