Design is constantly evolving, and I never look back or repeat what’s already done,” he says. Shigei has nearly 30 years of design experience, first as an architect in Japan and then as the Hawaii designer for the modern Italian brand Snaidero. All along he has favored the latest and greatest products — coupled with creative design. “What I do best is integrate the latest, most up–to-date design trends in my clients’ everyday lives. The designs may seem very simple, but there are many details hidden where they cannot be seen,” Shigei says. As the exclusive local dealer of Snaidero, Shigei can incorporate current trends from Italy to create a kitchen that utilizes the most updated and innovative design solutions. Great design does not have to come at a high price, Shigei adds. “Because of the economy, more and more inexpensive materials have been introduced to the market, including the Snaidero cabinet line. Many inexpensive melamine ‘wood-looking-finish’ doors have been added and we have received a lot of positive responses from our customers.” For Shigei, the more challenges he encounters, the more creative he can be. “My favorite part about what I do is finding the best solution to satisfy every aspect of the project. I believe there’s always a solution for everything,” he says. The Holistic Helper

Nimitz Hwy., Suite 104 521-7424 details-international.com glendaaloha@yahoo.com Glenda Anderson has a passion for living well — and helping others do the same. From a young age, she helped her father, a professional builder, whenever his building plans needed tweaking. She hasn’t stopped tweaking and designing since. For more than 50 years, including 20 with her company Details International, Anderson has applied her holistic design sense to improving homeowners’ spaces with functional, long-lasting changes. “Every space is different in style and feeling. We design for the individual needs of the client, present and future,” she says. “We give the client a home that will never have to be redone as needs change, and we do it right the first time.” Anderson’s ability to think analytically and creatively allows her to quickly connect with the needs of clients to make changes for the better. The kitchen, for example, is Anderson’s favorite room to design. “If the kitchen is the heart of the home,” she explains, “then I enjoy performing corrective heart surgery!” Anderson is also a longtime believer in green design, which she considers a rule and not a fad. She focuses on creating maximum energy efficiency and utilizes recycled, reclaimed products whenever possible to help homeowners and the environment. Above all, Anderson’s inclination is to help and improve. “I’m proudest after every job when the client comes back to us saying we have changed their lives for the better.” The Up and Comers

As a kitchen and bath specialist and an interior designer, respectively, the duo enjoys offering their well-rounded design services to Homeworks’ clients. “Creating inviting and warm spaces, while keeping the layout functional, is my design philosophy,” Bradshaw says. “Listening to clients’ ideas, wants and needs and then creating a space to fit their lifestyles is what it’s all about.” Vassilicos agrees. “I always consider the lifestyle and needs of the client to develop a concept of design. The other elements — style, color, texture — will naturally follow,” she says. Both call the kitchen their favorite room to design. “My own personal love for entertaining friends creates my excitement for designing rooms that revolve around socializing,” Vassilicos says. “The kitchen has become the heart of many homes and people love to centralize their rooms around it.” With a background in custom-cabinetry design, Bradshaw says that in a room such as the kitchen, which serves as the central gathering space for families, layout and placement of cabinetry is especially crucial. “It has a huge impact on how the space is used, whether you’re cooking or entertaining,” he says. “Together, we collaborate with clients on the ideas that will work best.” “We know that building or remodeling a new home can be a stressful life endeavor,” Vassilicos adds. “So, it’s very rewarding for us to offer our professional advice during a client's journey.” Page 1 of 3 1 | 2 | 3 |
