In the past, to save energy, the homeowners would unplug their appliances each day, which proved to be a tedious task. The solution? The electrician installed a new single switch that turns the counter outlets off and on, all at once.

BEFORE

This kitchen hadn’t seen a renovation in nearly 25 years. “It was starting to give up,” says the homeowner. “It was literally falling apart, and the appliances were dying, one by one.” As the sad kitchen slowly deteriorated, the homeowners decided it was ready for an upgrade.

They visited an open house in their neighborhood that featured the design work of Randall Omoto of Homeowners Design Center. “They said, ‘Wow. Can we do something like this?’” Omoto says.

Shortly after, they were meeting regularly with Omoto, putting together plans for the kitchen of their dreams. On their wish list:  Open up the house, entice people to enter the kitchen, maximize the space, modernize the look and functionality, and keep it cool. The homeowners had specific strategies they wanted to try. “We thought about this for a long time,” the homeowner says.

Omoto’s 3-D rendering software brought their ideas to life. “We had a good idea of how it was going to turn out before we ordered everything,” the homeowner says.
