The outdoor area was designed to be a suitable playground for the whole family.
Even before putting pencil to paper to draw up his new dream abode, the owner of this Kahala home knew what he wanted the final outcome to be. “In the past, we went through the whole gamut of home designs, from very traditional to more contemporary,” he recalls. “After all that, we just wanted something that looked nice and felt comfortable. Comfort was the most important thing for us. We wanted to be able to come home, throw our feet up on the couch and relax.”

Armed with an engineering background, the homeowner partnered with a general contractor to produce the new home’s architectural layout. About two months into the layout work, he brought in Jamie Jackson of Pacific Home to assist with the design schemes.

“The husband and wife would come in and meet with me once a week, pretty much through the entire project,” explains Jackson, a renowned interior designer who joined Pacific Home as a partner in 2006. The Ward Avenue store offers quality design services, home furnishings and accessories with stylish island flair.

Jackson reviewed the architectural plans, met with the entire family (which includes two young daughters and an in-law), and considered every possible detail: Did the family want a library? Would there be enough lighting to play the piano? How much time would they spend in the living room?
