The homeowners chose warm, inviting wood tones throughout the home. When it came to the front doors, they recruited Annalee Jones of Glass Rainbows to create custom stained glass panels.

Once the plans were in place, the Wasco team got down to business. They oriented the layout of the home to utilize the views, placing the kitchen, great room and master suite on the mauka half of the house. Vaulted ceilings, large windows and sliding glass doors lend an open feel and allow for easy outdoor access from the kitchen and the living area. The remaining three bedrooms and bath were placed in the other half of the home.

The husband's biggest wish was for an efficient cook’s kitchen. He got it with a walk-in pantry, quality appliances, solid cherry-wood cabinetry and Corian countertops. Now he can cook and entertain simultaneously with a bar-top peninsula open to the living room and a covered lanai just off the kitchen.

The wife's wish for a relaxing master bedroom and, most importantly, a large spalike bath was granted as well. Wasco created a 5ˇ x 6ˇ glass-block enclosed walk-in shower and added a large, step-up Jacuzzi tub with views of the mountains. His-and-her sinks and dark ceramic tile finish the look off.
In total, the building process took six months, and the wife says they wouldn’t change a thing. “This is the largest investment most of us make,” she says. “We’re not moving. We built this house to be here forever.”
