Color Me DEViNE design consultant and manager J.R. Ludlow says she and owner Judy Dawson wanted the showroom to be “welcoming, playful and imaginative for clients who may be a little color-phobic in their own homes.” True to intention, the showroom walls exhibit the types of color and paint textures that are available to clients, including a corner accent wall painted a rich shade of purple called “Devine Dusk.”

Open at its Smith Street location since May 2009, Color Me DEViNE carries the national DEViNE Color paint brand exclusively. The paints are eco-friendly, low odor and 99-percent Volatile Organic Compound (VOC)-free.

The showroom also showcases local art. “Color, design and art have such a natural affinity and we wanted to be able to blend those concepts in an eclectic atmosphere,” says Ludlow. Current pieces for sale include fiber wall art, handcrafted and locally made jewelry, baskets, pillows and batik-dyed eggs by resident artist Kent West.

Ludlow and Dawson also offer easy-to-use tools and color-design consultations by appointment. “We offer full-page color swatches and paint samples in all of our colors,” she adds. “We love coming into someone’s home and showing them the possibilities that DEViNE Color offers. It’s great when they fall in love with a color they never would have thought of using.”
