The owner of this kitchen had modest plans for his outdoor space — at first. He wanted to create a concrete pad for his rolling grill, but a trip to Servco Home & Appliance Distribution sparked a more ambitious goal. Servco’s impressive line of outdoor appliances and the homeowner’s love of barbecuing inspired him to convert the unusable space in his yard into an outdoor kitchen.

Once he made the decision, the homeowner knew exactly what he wanted: “Everything big,” he says, “and all Alfresco. To me, it’s the best outdoor kitchen line.” Manufactured by a company that also provides commercial kitchen appliances, Alfresco products were created with the intention of bringing professional quality to residential backyards. Made from extremely high-grade stainless steel, the Alfresco line is durable, appropriate for the outdoors and comes with a lifetime warranty. Servco is the brand’s exclusive distributor in Hawaii. Servco is open to the public for viewing, and products are available to homeowners through authorized dealers.

The homeowner’s appliance wish list included multiple large grills, a sear zone, a bar and food warmers. He also wanted the kitchen’s design to give the impression of an outdoor resort, with a large, open space and neutral colors. The homeowner, a contractor by trade, had previously purchased appliances from Servco when remodeling his indoor kitchen. He sketched an image of his ideal kitchen and returned to the site of his inspiration. The Servco staff worked with him to determine which top-of-the-line appliances were the most suitable for his outdoor entertaining style. Adhering to his wish list, they placed an order consisting entirely of Alfresco products.

Three weeks later, the homeowner’s 200-square-foot outdoor kitchen was fully installed, fired up and ready to cook. The homeowner chose granite for the countertops and backsplashes and sandstone mosaic tiles for the flooring. With two commercial-grade, 30-inch grills built in, the homeowner’s outdoor kitchen was designed for large-scale food preparation. The grills are made with perforated, porcelain briquettes to provide lasting, evenly distributed heat. “The slightly porous material traps juices, allowing them to vaporize and return to the food as flavorful smoke,” explains a Servco product specialist. “If you wanted, you could turn off the gas and cook off of these briquettes. They will hold the heat for some time.” At 30 inches, the grills the homeowner purchased are already fairly large, but Alfresco grills come in even larger sizes, with the largest available at 56 inches. All of the grills have the option for a combination of rotisserie, smokers and/or searing capabilities. The best part: These grills are easy to maintain. Having a large grill doesn’t mean having to clean up a big mess. The grill briquettes can be flipped over to burn off any excess grease or oil spills, and the stainless-steel finishes mean no unsightly rusting in humid climates.

In addition to the large, stainless-steel grills, the homeowner installed an independent Sear Zone,, hybrid infrared burner. “The infrared system brings the intense searing power of a commercial infrared broiler to the home to make those great-tasting steaks,” says the specialist. Keeping up with the resort atmosphere, the kitchen has two built-in food warmers, a serving shelf and a 30-inch bar built in below the sink. Track lighting in the ceiling warmly illuminates the workspace, allowing the homeowner to cook any time of day.

“Having the best of the best in appliance lines makes outdoor cooking a blast,” adds the homeowner. The Alfresco appliances, which he uses two to three times a week, upgrade this residential kitchen into one fit for a chef.
