Celebrating its 18th year, the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) Hawaii Kitchen & Bath Design Competition highlights the finest kitchen and bath projects from the past year. Sponsored by Hawaii Home + Remodeling magazine, in conjunction with the Aloha chapter of the NKBA, this event honors Hawaii’s most talented kitchen-and-bath designers.
As in past years, each entry is judged on technical merit, aesthetic value and design excellence. Technical merit judging is based on the NKBA’s rules for kitchen- and-bath design. Points are also awarded for how the designers used their creativity to solve problems, how the solutions followed design principles and how color palettes and materials created an overall presentation. president’s message
The Aloha chapter of the NKBA promotes excellence in design by providing workshops and continuing-education courses to our certified kitchen-and-bath designers and local business owners. The annual NKBA Aloha chapter Kitchen and Bath Design Competition highlights the work of the numerous certified kitchen-and-bath designers as well as designers from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and independent designers here in Hawaii. The entries are judged on the design guidelines set forth by the NKBA, which ensure the safe and effective design of kitchens and bathrooms, as well as aesthetics, style and use of materials and finishes. This year’s entries are true examples of excellence in design. Enjoy reading about the competition winners; you may find the designer for your new kitchen and bath!
