When the Han family was ready to build their dream home in Kahala, they paid special attention to the room they use the most: the kitchen. “I use the kitchen a lot for cooking meals for my family,” Leah Han says. “We needed a kitchen that would function efficiently but also look elegant.”
With their specific needs in mind, the homeowners called on Homeworks Construction Inc. to make their dream a reality. “Homeworks Construction was contracted because we handle everything from start to finish,” says selections specialist Sarah Van De Vanter, “from the design on paper, working with the owners to realize their vision and finally to the construction. Every detail is overseen by us.”
Homeworks enlisted in-house designer Sean Bradshaw to create an open, efficient kitchen for the Hans. The new 15-foot-by-10-foot, L-shape space satisfies all of the Hans’ requests, from tall kitchen cabinets to a large island. Rich cherry cabinetry with raised panel doors and drawers in a wild-cherry stain creates a warm and welcoming first impression. Bradshaw took the cabinets to ceiling height to maximize space and added crown molding. Accessories, including a Magic Corner and various pullouts, make the most of storage space with easy access to cabinet contents.
