Green options are popping up everywhere. It’s no wonder that sustainable materials have reached our countertops as well. Vetrazzo, now offered at KDI Elements, is a new countertop surface that uses recycled glass to create mosaic patterns throughout the material. Just one 5-foot panel of Vetrazzo can contain up to 1,000 recycled bottles.
They even have one—Cobalt Skyy—that’s made from recycled Skyy Vodka bottles! They also have a variety of options to suit a more neutral palette, like Floating Blue, pictured here (photo by Joel Puliatti).
Another green countertop alternative? Quartz. Because it’s made from desert sand, this material is nearly infinite. Bonus: it has an extremely long life and many are mold-resistant. For more on Green kitchen options, see our Kitchen Trends article from this month’s issue.
