My friend Chere is fantastically creative with furniture. Recently, she
found this great table and chairs at the Goodwill in Kailua. They had a
great shape and funky detail, but the dark brown color and outdated
upholstery needed to go. Using white gloss enamel paint and a sanding
block from Hardware Hawaii, she repainted the pieces and sanded them
for a worn look. After covering them with clear polyurethane
protectant, she reupholstered the cushions using fabric from Fabric
Mart and a staple gun (no tacks necessary!). Looks like her dog,
Gladys, enjoys the new backyard furniture as much as she does.
