This month, we brought you Hawaii's newest green home development, Haleakea by Gentry Homes. I'm also working on a project to support the New Hawaiian Home, an affordable home prototype model that will start construction in January in Waipahu. The BIA, DBEDT, Hawaiian Electric and many others are sponsoring the construction of the home, which will be super green, but also come in very close to Oahu's median home price. This one will feature everything from a water catchment system to an aquaponics garden! It's not too early to watch it come together. The BIA is blogging about it now at biahawaii.blogspot.com. Our staff is incredibly excited about these new developments. Looks like the community is doing more than embracing green. We're trying to find ways to make it affordable and accessible for everyone.
