Looking to trade in your old, electric water heater for a new, energy-efficient solar one? Now is the perfect time! From March 21 until May 31, 2011, Hawaii Energy is offering BONUS rebates of up to $1,750 for residential solar heaters. 

If that’s not convincing enough, a solar water heater can save you an average of $10 to $15 on your energy bill per person, per month, according to Hawaii Energy. The sun generates about 90 percent of the energy needed to heat water, reducing our state’s dependence on oil and making Hawaii’s sunny climate perfect for solar energy.
