Looking for a reason to trade your old fridge in for a new one? Maybe some cash would help. In an effort to reduce Hawaii and Maui county households' utility costs and energy consumption, Hawaii Energy will be offering residents of those counties who purchased Energy Star refrigerators from local appliance retailers a limited time $250 rebate. "Native Hawaiian homestead residents of those counties will also be eligible for $250 rebates for Energy Star refrigerators and/or clothes washers through additional suuport from the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement," according to Hawaii Energy. "A limited number of applications is reserved for those who are qualified." But act fast. "This limited-time incentive will last for just two weeks — yet the benefits to Hawaii's ecosystem and on participants' lowered energy bills will last for years," says Crystal Ingalls, project assistant at Hawaii Energy.
To get the rebate, Hawaii and Maui county residents must purchase their Energy Star refrigerator from a participating retailer. Native Hawaiian residents wishing to participate must contact CNHA to get the rebate application.
