It’s an exciting day for Daniel and Lori Ann Ambrosewicz and their two small children. Today, they finally get to move into their new house: the New Hawaiian Home, BIA-Hawaii’s prototype green house.
Daniel and Lori Ann placed the winning bid on the New Hawaiian Home at the Remodel it Right, Remodel it Green expo last year. At a cost of approximately $600,000, the house took 84 days to complete. More than 90 professionals – contractors, architects, builders – were involved in the project.
Though the home has been finished for some time now, the Ambrosewiczes have been patiently waiting while BIA-Hawaii hosts open houses, sharing with other Oahu residents just how attainable (and comfy) a green home can be. The final open house was conducted today along with a blessing to mark the beginning of the Ambrosewiczes’ new life in the home. Complete with an aqua-ponics system, solar water heating and water-catchment system, among other smart, eco-friendly features, the New Hawaiian Home is allowing the Ambrosewiczes to live their green dream.
Didn’t get a chance to attend an open house? Check out our August issue on stands next week for all the details on the New Hawaiian Home.
