JohnCookKitchensNKBA President's Message
October is National Kitchen and Bath Month. As members of the Aloha Chapter of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), we are pleased to showcase our two major events in this special supplement of Hawaii Home + Remodeling.
This year we celebrate the 14th anniversary of our Design Competition. The winners were announced at a banquet held Oct. 5, 2007, at the Halekulani. You’ll see the winners of this year’s competition on the following pages. Hopefully, they will inspire you to attend our next big event, The Great Kitchen & Bath Tour.
After 20 years, The Great Kitchen & Bath Tour is better than ever! Mark your calendar for Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007. Tickets for the event are available at many kitchen and bath design companies in town, as well as at all tour homes on the day of the tour. See the tour maps on page 10 of this guide.
Visitors on the tour can walk through some of the finest kitchens and baths designed by our Aloha Chapter members. This is a wonderful venue for those of you who are considering a remodel or are just starting new construction. In addition to the designers who worked on these projects, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of suppliers and vendors who provided materials for each project, including appliances, flooring and other items.
Attending the tour is a great way to get ideas, plus you’ll be helping a worthy cause. All proceeds from the tour go to Honolulu Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income families build affordable homes. The NKBA Aloha Chapter has been working with Honolulu Habitat for Humanity on the Kitchen Tour for nine years. On June 30, our membership pitched in to help with a Honolulu Habitat home for the Frank family, which has resided there for five generations. The Aloha Chapter is happy to continue this growing relationship with Honolulu Habitat—it is a charity worthy of our support for the work it does.
Composed of professional designers and supplier members, the NKBA Aloha Chapter works to provide the best our industry has to offer. If you think you would benefit from years of experience and training, contact one of our members for your next project!
